VOLKSWAGEN Group of America
The ERL supports all brands within the Volkswagen Group. This includes Audi, Bentley, Bugatti, Lamborghini, Seat, Skoda and Volkswagen. In addition to working with research and development teams in Germany, the ERL also supports the development of U.S.-specific features at the Volkswagen Group of America headquarters in Herndon, VA.
A little history
Founded in August 1998, the ERL began operations in October of that year with three employees.
By December 2002, the lab had outgrown its small Sunnyvale, California office and moved to Palo Alto.
In 2011, the ERL moved to Belmont. The current location provides a spacious office, workshops, and prototyping areas for about 80
workers and supports several ERL employees at Volkswagen Group of America headquarters in Herndon, VA.
