HMI for Driver Assistance

February 2012

Volkswagen is leading the way to bring autonomous vehicle technology to our customers in the form of different types of driver assistance systems.  Collision avoidance, blind spot warning, adaptive cruise control, and lane guidance are already available in our cars.  In the coming years we will offer even more driver assistance systems to our customers with the goal of making our cars more intelligent.

The HMI team is developing intuitive and engaging methods to interact with driver assistance systems.  These control and warning methods address the human element in semi-autonomous and fully autonomous vehicles.  These human factors research questions are addressed in one of our many driving simulators within the Volkswagen Group.
