The ERL has contributed to the advancement of safety and convenience features using vision sensors. This has ranged from benchmarking new CMOS technologies to developing multi-camera systems for safety and convenience features.
As an example of the ERL’s sensor benchmarking efforts, the ERL presented a small, heat resistant rear view camera neatly integrated in the rear spoiler of the Lamborghini Gallardo. We continued finding new cool technology to incorporate additional functionalities in special vehicles like the multi-view camera shown in the Audi R8 V12 presented in the 2008 Tokyo Motor Show.
The ERL has also developed a number of new applications, including occupant detection, driver gesture recognition, visualization aids for driving and parking maneuver, etc. Several of these technologies have been successfully transferred and incorporated into our product line up, and some others are coming soon…
